Rachel Lloyd founded the Girls Educational and Mentoring Services in New York City in order to combat commercial sex trafficking, provide essential services for survivors and counter negative stigma. As an advocate and author, she has helped shift national perceptions of trafficked women from criminals to victims and now to survivors and leaders. Her courageous efforts have changed policy in at least 12 US states to protect women from the many dangers of trafficking.
