Rob Nail, 42, is the founder of an academic programme that helps entrepreneurs to develop technologies that address global problems, such as water scarcity and energy consumption. Corporate sponsors include Google, Nokia, LinkedIn and Genentech. The non-traditional university taps into a large community of scientists, investors, business leaders and public policy makers. Nail also co-founded Velocity11, which built robotics for cancer research and drug discovery and was acquired by Agilent.
