Jackley and Flannery founded Kiva, a non-profit which allows people to lend money via the internet to low-income and underserved entrepreneurs and students in 83 countries. It seeks to alleviate poverty by providing access to capital even in the most remote areas. Since founding in 2005, over 1.3 million people have lent over US$700 million to help people create better lives for themselves.
