Wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do at Pukka, whether it’s emotional, physical or environmental. India’s ancient health system Ayurveda has inspired a lot of our values.
“I TRY TO CLOSE INWARDS BEFORE THE DAY STARTS OUTWARDS”
In Ayurveda, health is described as “the balance of body, mind and spirit, being endowed with strength, will power, zest for life and sharpness of your senses.” The essence of Ayurveda fits perfectly with what we want to achieve at Pukka; we want to plant, grow, harvest and blend herbal teas and supplements to enhance life.
Feeling good and doing good are not mutually exclusive. Before starting up Pukka Herbs I really thought about what I wanted to do – I had to stop, take space and consider what I really was about and how I could align my inside and outside world. I get a lot from connecting with nature and this helped to inspire Pukka’s vision to connect people, plants and nature.
I start my day by taking 20-30 minutes for myself, practicing yoga or meditating. I try to close inwards before the day starts outwards. I have a bit of a love – hate relationship with routine but I know that by taking some time out in the morning I have an opportunity to create the stillness I need before the day starts.
Here at Pukka I’m fortunate enough to be surrounded by a treasure chest of incredible herbs. Our Supreme Green Matcha and Three Ginger teas get me going in the morning, and in the afternoon my favourite teas to refresh and replenish are Detox and Relax. Simple things like enjoying a good cup of tea should never be underestimated. Not just any cup of tea though. Sebastian Pole (co-founder of Pukka) and I had tried many herbal teas before we set up Pukka Herbs and we knew we wanted to be better – we wanted to show off the true brilliance of herbs.
We encourage our Pukka team to believe in themselves and their unique potential, whilst being brave enough to stretch their limitations and be compassionate warriors. I really enjoy helping people on a journey towards realising their full potential.
