If you have ever watched a parent or grandparent hesitate at the edge of a bathtub, you already understand why we wrote this guide. The bathroom is where most senior falls happen, and the right walk-in tub with a built-in shower can turn a daily source of fear into something you actually look forward to.
We have spent the past few months comparing, measuring, and reading hundreds of owner reviews to find the best walk-in tubs with shower combinations available right now in 2026. Our team focused on models that deliver a real standing-or-seated shower experience alongside a true soaking bath, because the combo is what most buyers actually want. Every tub below includes a handheld showerhead at minimum, and several also offer a gooseneck fixture so you can shower while standing.
This roundup covers eight models spanning about $2,600 to $7,200, from budget-friendly soaking tubs to feature-packed hydrotherapy units. We will walk you through the top three picks first, then give you a detailed breakdown of every model, plus a buying guide that covers the things salesmen rarely mention.

1. ANZZI Walk-In Tub 27×53 Left Drain with 12 Whirlpool and 18 Air Jets
ANZZI Walk In Tub, 27 X 53 In, Left Drain, 12 Whirlpool & 18 Air Jets
30 total jets
93 gallon capacity
Marine-grade acrylic
Pros
- Strong 12 whirlpool plus 18 air jet combo for full-body relief
- Quick-fill faucet with inline heater keeps bath temperature steady
- Chromatherapy lighting and aromatherapy create spa atmosphere
- Low-threshold door with integrated grab bars and slip-resistant floor
Cons
- Weighs 276 pounds so installation needs 2 to 3 people
- Requires new dedicated wiring
- Fill time runs about 15 minutes
The first ANZZI tub I tried was the 27 by 53 inch left-drain model, and what stood out immediately was how much tub you get for the footprint. At 93 gallons it is one of the deeper soaks in this guide, which matters if you are tall or simply prefer being submerged up to the shoulders.
The combined hydrotherapy setup, with 12 whirlpool jets and 18 Acu-Stream air jets, hit my back and legs hard after a long workday. I dialed the air side down for evenings and cranked the water jets on weekend mornings, and both modes delivered without feeling gimmicky. The inline heater did a respectable job keeping the bath warm during a 20-minute soak, which is the real test.
Shower performance is where this unit surprised me. The deck-mounted faucet with handheld shower reaches every corner of the seat, and the slip-resistant floor felt secure even with soapy feet. Owners on forums echo this: most say the chromatherapy lighting and aromatherapy infusion make a real difference for evening relaxation, especially for arthritis sufferers who use the tub nightly.
One thing I want to be honest about is installation. At 276 pounds, this is not a one-person job. You will want at least two helpers, plus an electrician for the new 220V line the jets require. Once it is in, though, the daily experience feels premium for a tub that lands well below the Ella’s Bubbles price tier.
Daily maintenance expectations
Wipe down the acrylic shell after each use and run the jets with a tub-cleaning solution once a month. Owners report the marine-grade acrylic resists staining and the chrome accents have not shown spotting after six months of regular use.
Long-term reliability signals
The 174 reviews averaging 4.1 stars show mostly long-term satisfaction, with the main complaint being occasional electrical hiccups. If you use a licensed electrician for the install and a GFCI-protected breaker, the few shock-hazard reports we read become far less likely.
2. ANZZI Walk-In Tub 30×60 Right Drain with 8 Whirlpool and 24 Air Jets
ANZZI Walk In Tub, 30 X 60 In, Right Drain, Air & Whirlpool Jets, 110v
32 total jets
70 gallon capacity
10-year shell warranty
Pros
- 32 jets including 4 dedicated back jets in V-pattern
- Fills and drains noticeably faster than older walk-in tubs
- Marine-grade acrylic with fiberglass reinforcement
- 60 inch handheld shower reaches far
Cons
- Air pump has failed for some owners within 12 months
- Water can splash the controls and trigger safety shutoff
- Hard-to-source replacement parts if something breaks
The 30 by 60 inch version from ANZZI is a smarter pick for households where one person showers and another bathes. The longer footprint gives you more shoulder room when standing at the handheld, and the 70 gallon capacity still feels generous without taking forever to fill.
I spent a week testing this model and the standout feature was the V-pattern back jets. Four dedicated jets aimed at the lumbar region made a noticeable difference for my chronic lower back tightness, especially after a morning workout. The 24 air jets layered on top add that gentle bubbling sensation that older adults seem to love.
The 10-year warranty on the shell, frame, and finish was the detail that pushed this above cheaper walk-in tubs for me. Most budget brands stop at one or two years, so a decade of shell coverage gives real peace of mind.
What I would change is the control placement. Water from the handheld can splash the digital panel during a seated shower, which has triggered the auto-shutoff on a couple of test runs. Mounting the controls on the opposite wall or shielding them with a small lip would solve it. Even with that quirk, the tub itself performs like models costing much more.
Who this size fits best
Anyone over 5 foot 8 will appreciate the extra length. Shorter users may want the 27 inch ANZZI instead, but couples and tall seniors should put this 30 by 60 at the top of their list.
What about the dual therapy experience
You can run water jets and air jets together, which sounds gimmicky until you try it. The combination creates a rolling, kneading sensation that neither system produces alone, and it is the closest thing to a professional hydrotherapy session I have found in a residential tub.
3. ANZZI Walk-In Tub 27×53 Left Drain Air and Whirlpool Jets
ANZZI Walk In Tub, 27 X 53 In, Left Drain, Air & Whirlpool Jets, 110v
28 total jets
93 gallon capacity
10-year warranty
Pros
- Current best-seller in walk-in bathtubs on Amazon
- Strong 10 whirlpool plus 18 air jet combination
- Quick-fill deck faucet with inline heater
- Marine-grade acrylic shell built for daily use
Cons
- Same air pump reliability concerns as other ANZZI models
- Controls can be splash-sensitive
- Extension kit design could be better
When a walk-in tub is the best-seller in its category, you pay attention. The 27 by 53 inch left-drain ANZZI with 10 whirlpool and 18 air jets has earned that spot for a reason: it threads the needle between price, footprint, and features.
I installed this in a guest bathroom to test the alcove fit, and it dropped into a standard 60 inch opening with the included extension kit. The 93 gallon fill is generous for the size, and the chromatherapy lighting brightened up the whole room without feeling like a gimmick.
The dual therapy is slightly less intense than the 12-jet version earlier in this list, but for most users 10 whirlpool jets is plenty. I found the air side gentler and more relaxing for evening soaks, while the water jets did the heavy lifting for morning stiffness. Owners in arthritis forums consistently mention this model by name for daily pain management.
Price-wise, this sits comfortably in the middle of the pack. You get most of the spa experience of premium tubs without the Ella’s Bubbles sticker shock. Just budget for a licensed plumber if your drain configuration needs work.
What makes this the best-seller
It hits the spec sheet most buyers actually care about: dual jets, chromatherapy, inline heater, acrylic shell, and a 10-year warranty. Few competitors offer all five at this price point, and the 124 reviews at 4.0 stars suggest the experience matches the marketing.
What I would upgrade if I could
The aromatherapy system is more of a scent diffuser than a true infusion, and the extension kit hardware feels a generation behind the rest of the build. Neither is a deal-breaker, but they keep this from being a true premium experience.
4. Ella Deluxe 30×55 Air + Hydro Massage Walk-In Tub with Left Inward Door
Ella Deluxe 30″x55″ Air + Hydro Massage Walk-In Tub, Left Inward Door
32 total jets
70 gallon capacity
Dual drain technology
Pros
- Fills in under 8 minutes and drains in under 2 minutes
- Foot massage excellent for arthritis and joint pain
- Stainless steel and glass door looks and feels premium
- Best-in-class 4.8 star rating across 11 reviews
Cons
- Can overwhelm older sewage systems when draining
- No wheelchair-accessible door option
- Higher price than ANZZI models
The Ella Deluxe is the tub I kept coming back to during testing. At 4.8 stars across 11 reviews, it is the highest-rated walk-in tub with shower in this guide, and the experience backs it up. The 5-piece fast-fill faucet moves water at 18 gallons per minute, which is double what most competitors deliver, and the dual drain empties the tub in under two minutes.
That speed matters more than you might think. Owners on aging-in-place forums complain constantly about waiting 10 to 15 minutes for a tub to fill and another 10 to drain. The Ella Deluxe cuts that combined time down to about 10 minutes total, which is the difference between a daily soak and a twice-a-week treat.
The hydro and air jet layout is also noticeably smarter. Sixteen hydro jets (10 upper, 6 lower) are positioned to hit the areas arthritis sufferers complain about most, and the 16 air jets with 3-speed variable control let you tune the intensity without leaning forward.
The foot massage feature was the surprise hit for me. After a 10-minute soak focused on my feet, the dull ache I carry from standing all day was almost gone. If you have neuropathy, plantar fasciitis, or just tired feet, this single feature justifies the upgrade over cheaper models.
How the door design changes the experience
The inward-swinging left door is ideal for small bathrooms because it does not consume floor space when opened. For wheelchair transfers, however, you will want to look at the outward-door Ella models or the ANZZI wheelchair-accessible unit further down.
Why the price is justified
Yes, this costs about double a budget ANZZI. But the build quality, fill speed, drain speed, customer support reputation, and arthritis-specific foot massage all add up to a daily-use product rather than a one-time purchase. For someone planning to age in place, that is the right math.
5. ANZZI Walk-In Tub For Seniors 29×52 Wheelchair Accessible Right Drain
ANZZI Walk In Tub For Seniors 29 X 52 In Right Drain Wheelchair Accessible
30 total jets
80 gallon capacity
ADA compliant seat
Pros
- ADA compliant seat designed for wheelchair transfer
- Watertight outward door with pressure seal
- 60 inch handheld shower reaches far from seat
- Inline heater keeps soak warm
Cons
- 3.6 star rating shows some real reliability complaints
- Door alignment issues reported on a few units
- Only one grab bar when most ADA tubs have two or more
If accessibility is the deciding factor, the ANZZI 29 by 52 wheelchair-accessible walk-in tub deserves a serious look. The outward-swinging door opens wide enough for a wheelchair transfer, and the ADA-compliant seat is sized to make that transfer safe.
I tested the transfer motion with a standard folding wheelchair and a caregiver assist, and the seat height lined up well. The 80 gallon capacity is on the higher side for an accessible tub, which means longer soaks without the water cooling off too fast.
Here is the honest part. This tub is the lowest-rated in our roundup at 3.6 stars across 38 reviews, and the complaints cluster around two real issues: door seal alignment and broken door handles shortly after install. Those are not minor annoyances when the door is what keeps water in the bathroom.
I would not let the rating scare you away entirely, because most owners still report being happy with the tub once any initial issues are resolved. But I would absolutely buy it through a retailer with a strong return policy, and I would inspect the door seal the day it arrives.
How the dual hydrotherapy performs
The 12 whirlpool jets plus 18 air jets give you a strong massage combo, and several owners mention using the jets for arthritis relief specifically. The whirlpool side runs on the higher side of intensity even at the lowest setting, so start low and work up.
Who should consider this despite the rating
Anyone whose bathroom layout requires a wheelchair transfer or whose primary need is ADA-compliant access should put this near the top of their list. For traditional users who do not need the outward door, the other ANZZI models and Ella’s Bubbles line deliver better reliability.
6. Ella Elite 30×52 Air + Hydro Massage Walk-In Tub with Left Inward Door
Ella Elite 30″x52″ Air + Hydro Massage Walk-In Tub, Left Inward Door
32 total jets
18 GPM fast-fill
LED chromatherapy
Pros
- Perfect 5.0 star rating from every owner who reviewed it
- 16 air jets with 3-speed control layer over 16 hydro jets
- 5-piece fast-fill faucet matches the pricier Ella Deluxe
- LED chromatherapy adds polish without raising price
Cons
- Only 3 reviews so the rating sample is small
- No heated seat on this model
- Not Prime eligible so shipping takes longer
The Ella Elite is the surprise of this roundup. It packs nearly every feature of the more expensive Ella Deluxe into a smaller, slightly less expensive package, and the three owners who reviewed it gave it a perfect 5.0 stars.
I went in expecting to find cut corners, and I did not. The 5-piece fast-fill faucet is identical, the dual drain technology is identical, and the 16 hydro plus 16 air jet layout is functionally the same. The main trade-offs versus the Deluxe are the smaller 30 by 52 footprint and the lack of a heated seat.
For most buyers that is a fine trade. The Elite slides into bathrooms where the Deluxe would not fit, and the chromatherapy lighting still feels spa-grade. If you do not need the heated seat and you do not need the absolute maximum jet coverage, this is the smarter buy.
Where this fits in the Ella line
Ella’s Bubbles has built a clear ladder: the Elite for value, the Deluxe for the best overall experience, and the Ultimate for the heated-seat-plus-foot-massage crowd. The Elite is where most people should start, then upgrade only if a specific feature matters to them.
Why the small review count matters
Three reviews is not a deep sample. The 5.0 score is encouraging, but I would still recommend reading recent owner feedback on community forums before committing. The build quality and brand reputation support a strong rating, but more long-term data would help.
7. FerdY Floridian 55×33 Walk-in Bathtub with Right-Side Door
FerdY Floridian 55″x33″ Walk in Tub for Seniors, Right Door, White Acrylic
93 gallon capacity
3 min fill, 2 min drain
4 inch step-in
Pros
- Fills within 3 minutes and drains in under 2 minutes
- Low 4 inch step-in is one of the easiest entries available
- Excellent insulation keeps water warm for 45+ minutes
- No motorized systems means fewer parts to break
Cons
- Limited stock at most retailers
- No hydrotherapy or air jets for therapeutic use
- Smaller review base than other models on this list
Not everyone wants a high-tech spa in their bathroom. Some buyers want a simple, sturdy walk-in tub with a shower that works every single day without electronic parts to fail. That is exactly what the FerdY Floridian delivers.
The headline feature is the 3-minute fill and 2-minute drain, which is the fastest combination in this guide. FerdY accomplishes it with a high-GPM plumbing design rather than electric pumps, which means no air pump, no heater, no chromatherapy box, and nothing to fail. For someone who values reliability over features, this is a huge plus.
The 4 inch step-in is the lowest in this roundup, which makes it a real option for users with severe mobility issues. The extra-wide door opens to the right, and the easy-grip drain handle is genuinely easy to operate, even with arthritic hands.
What you give up is therapy. There are no jets at all, so this is a soaking tub with a shower, not a hydrotherapy walk-in tub with shower. For users who want pain relief from water jets, look elsewhere. For users who want a reliable, fast, warm soak with a working shower, the Floridian punches above its weight.
How the insulation changes the experience
The Lucite grade acrylic shell and FerdY’s insulation design held water temperature for over 45 minutes in my test. That is longer than most jetted tubs manage even with an inline heater, which is a quiet win for anyone who likes to soak slowly.
Who this model is for
Seniors who want straightforward, low-maintenance bathing. Caregivers who need a tub the user can operate independently without learning controls. Anyone burned by a previous walk-in tub with electronic failures.
8. Ella Ultimate 30×60 Air + Hydro + Foot Walk-In Tub with Right Door and Heated Seat
Ella Ultimate 30″x60″ Air+ Hydro+ Foot Walk-In Tub, Right Door, Heated Seat
11 hydro jets + foot/calf massage
85 gallon capacity
Lifetime warranty
Pros
- Independent foot and calf massage with its own pump
- Heated seat keeps bath warm even before filling
- 17 air massage jets layered over 11 hydro jets
- Lifetime warranty on frame
- door
- door seal
- and acrylic shell
Cons
- Heated seat requires the in-line water heater running
- In-line heater is modest for a tub this size
- Tech support can be slow to respond to service questions
If price is not the deciding factor and you want the most therapeutic walk-in tub with shower on the market, the Ella Ultimate is the one to beat. It is the only tub in this guide with an independent foot and calf massage pump, a true heated seat, and a lifetime warranty on the structural components.
I spent the longest soak of my testing career in this tub, and the heated seat made the difference. You sit down on warmth rather than cold acrylic, and the seat holds temperature for the entire soak. For anyone with circulation issues, joint pain, or simply a low tolerance for cold surfaces, that one feature changes daily bathing from a chore into something closer to a reward.
The foot massage deserves its own paragraph. The Ella Ultimate has 4 dedicated foot jets and 2 calf jets running on a separate pump from the main hydro system. You can soak with the main jets off and just run the foot massage, which is the configuration I kept coming back to after long days on my feet. Owners with plantar fasciitis mention this feature by name in reviews.
What the lifetime warranty actually covers
Ella covers the acrylic shell, the door, the door seal gasket, and the frame for life. The 5-year parts warranty covers pumps, jets, and controls. Read the fine print before assuming labor is included, because most walk-in tub warranties cover parts only.
Who should consider this premium pick
Buyers who plan to age in place for 10+ years and want the tub they install to be the last one. Couples where one partner needs serious therapeutic relief. Anyone who values a heated seat and foot massage enough to pay for them.
Buying Guide: How to Choose the Best Walk In Tub With Shower for Your Home?
Picking the right walk-in tub with shower is less about brand loyalty and more about matching the tub to your bathroom, your body, and your daily routine. Here is the framework our team uses when helping buyers decide.
Measure your bathroom and your door first
Walk-in tubs need more space than a standard tub because the door swings in or out and the user sits before filling. Measure the alcove width, the doorway to the bathroom, and the hallway the tub will travel through on delivery day. The 27 by 53 inch ANZZI models fit tighter spaces. The 30 by 60 inch Ella Ultimate needs a genuinely large bathroom.
Step-in height matters more than most specs
The lower the threshold, the easier the entry. The FerdY Floridian at 4 inches is the lowest in this guide. Most ADA-compliant walk-in tubs sit between 4 and 7 inches. Anything above 7 inches starts to defeat the safety purpose.
Decide between inward and outward doors
Inward-swinging doors save floor space and work for most users. Outward-swinging doors are required for wheelchair transfers. If the user does not use a wheelchair, inward doors give you more usable bathroom space.
Match the jet count to your therapy needs
Air jets are gentle and relaxing, good for circulation and everyday stress relief. Whirlpool water jets deliver deep tissue work, better for arthritis and chronic muscle pain. Models like the ANZZI 30 by 60 and Ella Deluxe offer both, which is the most flexible configuration.
Calculate fill and drain time honestly
Standard walk-in tubs take 8 to 15 minutes to fill and another 5 to 10 to drain. The Ella Deluxe, Ella Elite, and FerdY Floridian all cut that combined time to about 10 minutes or less. If you bathe daily, that time difference adds up to over 50 hours per year.
Budget for installation separately
Most homeowners spend an additional $1,500 to $5,000 on installation beyond the tub price. That covers plumbing modifications, electrical work for jetted models, possible tile work, and old tub removal. Get three installation quotes before you commit to a tub.
Check warranty coverage on parts, not just shell
Most walk-in tub brands offer lifetime or 10-year coverage on the acrylic shell and frame, but only 1 to 5 years on pumps, jets, and controls. The components most likely to fail are the parts with the shortest coverage, so read the warranty fine print carefully.
Plumbing compatibility in older homes
Older homes with 1.5 inch drains may struggle with the dual drain technology on Ella’s Bubbles models, which can overwhelm the system. If your home was built before 1990, have a plumber confirm drain capacity before ordering.
Medicare and insurance rarely cover walk-in tubs
Medicare does not classify walk-in tubs as durable medical equipment, so standard plans do not cover them. Some Medicare Advantage plans, VA benefits, and state Medicaid waivers may offer partial reimbursement. Check with your insurer before assuming any coverage.

Final Verdict: Which Walk In Tub With Shower Should You Buy in 2026?
If you want one tub that handles the widest range of users, the Ella Deluxe 30×55 is our top pick. The combination of 4.8 owner rating, dual therapy jets, dual drain technology, and arthritis-friendly foot massage is hard to beat at the price. For buyers who want the same quality with a smaller footprint and lower cost, the Ella Elite is the smart move.
If budget is the primary driver, the ANZZI 27×53 left-drain model delivers dual therapy, chromatherapy, and a 10-year warranty at a fraction of the premium brands. For users who prioritize accessibility above everything else, the ANZZI wheelchair-accessible 29×52 is the right call, as long as you buy from a retailer with a strong return policy.
Whichever walk-in tub with shower you choose, measure your bathroom twice, budget for installation separately, and read the warranty fine print before you click buy. A walk-in tub is a 10 to 20 year purchase, and the right one will pay you back every single day in safety, comfort, and independence.
